THE RIGHT HONOURABLE HELEN CLARK
CCT AMBASSADOR
“It is a real pleasure and an honour to have Helen Clark as our CCT Ambassador. As former Prime Minister of New Zealand,
former Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme and Chair of the United Nations Development Group her knowledge and advice will be a real advantage for CCT”
– Denise Arnold | CCT Founder and Director
WHY CAMBODIA CHARITABLE TRUST HELEN?
“The Cambodia Charitable Trust is doing remarkable work to support education for vulnerable children, especially girls, in Cambodia. In this time of pandemic, its work is all the more important. Disruptions to education and rising poverty globally have resulted in many millions of girls not returning to school and facing the prospect of forced early marriage and pregnancy. The Trust has tackled this risk directly by supporting impoverished families to ensure that children’s education can be maintained. As well, its partnerships with the Ministry of Education and with teacher training mean that its efforts to improve education have a wide reach in the country.”
Rt Hon Helen Clark,
Former Prime Minister.
MORE ABOUT OUR AMBASSADOR
Helen Clark was Prime Minister of New Zealand from 1999-2008. During her nine years as Prime Minister,
New Zealand enjoyed strong economic growth,
low unemployment,
and significant investment in public services. Her government set clear objectives for sustainable development and climate action. She also championed New Zealand’s independent foreign policy and support for multilateralism.
Subsequently,
Helen Clark led the United Nations Development Programme from 2009-2017. She was the first woman and first New Zealander to hold the position of Administrator. Helen Clark stepped down after eight years and two terms as Administrator in April 2017. She now engages in public advocacy across a range of issues that motivated her career in public service.
100% OF YOUR DONATION GOES DIRECTLY TO OUR WORK IN CAMBODIA.
All of our volunteers donate their own travel and accommodation costs when working in Cambodia or in New Zealand and donate their time and expertise. Neither Denise Arnold,
nor any of the Trustees or volunteers draw a salary from CCT or take money from the charity for their expenses. They all believe passionately in what CCT is doing.
Where CCT does have administration costs,
these are covered by donations,
by the volunteers or by Lyon O’Neale Arnold,
lawyers in Tauranga,
of which CCT founder Denise Arnold is a Director. What costs CCT cannot avoid (bank fees and Xero costs) are covered by specific donations by individuals.
Every dollar donated goes to a specified purpose if the donor has one or the projects in Cambodia where it is carefully spent to get the maximum impact. Where possible supplies are purchased in Cambodia to support the local economy and to make our New Zealand dollars go further.
