More than access to school
Sponsorship helps remove the barriers that prevent children from participating fully in education.
Depending on each child’s circumstances, support may include school uniforms, books and learning materials, bicycles for travel to school, and access to a safe and encouraging learning environment.
Just as importantly, sponsorship provides stability, connection and the opportunity for children to remain engaged in education as they grow.
Through long-term support, many sponsored students continue into secondary school, vocational training and university — creating opportunities that can change the future for entire families.
Educating girls changes futures
Many of the children supported through Cambodia Charitable Trust are girls living in communities affected by poverty and limited educational opportunity.
Education helps create independence, confidence and choice. It can reduce vulnerability to exploitation, early marriage and unsafe work, while opening pathways to leadership, employment and further study.
Today, more than 95% of our sponsored students are girls, and all of the young women currently supported through our tertiary programme are the first generation in their families to access university education.
A pathway to opportunity
Sponsorship is often the beginning of a much longer journey.
Over the years, students supported through Cambodia Charitable Trust have progressed into university and professional careers including teaching, nursing, accounting, business and law.
Many remain deeply connected to their communities and are helping inspire the next generation of young people to continue their education.
